Sharing is caring!

Today we’re going to talk about getting really busy. Being busy is exciting and fun. And it’s fabulous that people are more interested in their homes and design now. They’ve realized that their homes could be way better, and designers are right in the middle of all that potential business.

The other side of this is that designers can end up with lists of things to do that are too long. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with tasks like the number of emails and fix-its heading our way, following up with people, and actually working on new projects. While it’s wonderful that so much is going on, you have to realize that you can’t do it all at once. You will need to stagger the work out so that it’s more manageable and you won’t go crazy.

This brings us to how to handle the big to-do list. It can be a problem because it just gets longer. Even though you may cross off a few items a day, you typically will add more items than you’ve completed. So, the list gets bigger and causes you to feel overwhelmed. Then, you end up doing all the little tasks first. Before you know it, it’s gotten so late in the day that you’re unable to tackle any of the more significant items.

Watch the video above where I explain the four steps you can take to get rid of your to-do list. You won’t necessarily get rid of any tasks, but I show you how to prioritize and make them more manageable. I also share the one thing you can do to figure out what tasks should be taken care of first. By doing this organizational mind hack, you can focus more on what you can do today, feel a sense of accomplishment, and help relieve stress.

Until next time, design something beautiful and get paid what you’re worth.
