Presenting your design is one of the most powerful moments in your design process.

It’s the moment where all of your work, the planning, sourcing, and creativity, comes together in front of your client. And how you present it can make the difference between hesitation and excitement.

In this episode, I share some of the biggest mistakes designers make when presenting their designs. One of the most common? Presenting items one piece at a time. When clients see individual pieces without context, they focus on tiny details rather than the overall vision, and that can quickly derail a great design.

Instead, successful designers present the entire space as a concept. When clients can see how everything works together, they understand the vision and are far more likely to say yes to the design as a whole.

We also talk about why budgeting must happen before the design presentation. If you present a beautiful concept without confirming a realistic budget, you risk creating excitement for something the client cannot afford, leading to redesigns, frustration, and wasted time.

Finally, we dive into how to elevate the presentation experience itself. From hospitality and thoughtful meeting locations to tactile samples and beautiful visuals, the best design presentations feel immersive and exciting. These small details create a “wow” factor that clients remember, and talk about with their friends.

When you combine strong design, a clear budget, and a memorable presentation experience, you create not only a successful project but also powerful word-of-mouth referrals.
