Success in your design business isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing the right things, consistently.

In this episode, I share the journey of a designer who transformed her business from $250,000 in revenue to $1.25 million over a few years—not through luck, but through focused action and implementation.

Her story began during a challenging time—working from home during COVID, feeling stuck, distracted, and unable to focus. At the same time, she had a major opportunity on the horizon: a large-scale, full-service design project that had the potential to change everything.

Instead of guessing her way through it, she asked for help. And that decision made all the difference.

We started by solving the immediate problem—creating a dedicated workspace so she could focus and operate professionally. Then we moved into the deeper work: refining her pricing, strengthening her money mindset, and making sure she was charging appropriately for both design services and product.

From there, she focused on identifying her ideal client and building a consistent marketing approach—so she wasn’t reliant on just one big opportunity, but creating a pipeline for future growth.

One of the biggest shifts came from implementing systems and hiring support. By delegating lower-value tasks, she was able to stay focused on high-value work—design, client relationships, and creative direction.

We also worked together to properly structure her large project—creating a comprehensive agreement that covered the full scope of work over an extended period of time. This ensured she was fully compensated and protected throughout the entire process.

And yes, she had her “pass the salt” moment—presenting a large fee with confidence and clarity. Because when you’ve done the work, the number makes sense.

Over time, she continued to build—not just projects, but a real business. She implemented financial systems, tracked profitability, hired a team, and created a structure that allowed her to grow sustainably.

This is what growth actually looks like: step-by-step improvement, consistent action, and a willingness to do things differently.

And the result? A thriving, profitable design business that gives her both success and freedom.
