Have you been feeling the urge to pull back lately? Maybe you’ve caught yourself hesitating, wondering if now is the time to play it safe—just in case.
With all the talk of tariffs and economic shifts, it’s easy to get swept into a mindset of fear and retreat. I’ve seen many incredible designers doing just that—tucking in, waiting it out, hoping for clarity.
But I’m here to remind you: this isn’t the time to shrink.
This is a moment to pivot—and rise.
In this week’s podcast episode, I talked all about how to lead your business, and clients, through times of uncertainty with clarity and confidence—and how this will positively impact your design business.
Here’s where you can listen to the full episode.
Let’s be honest… When our minds start running wild with worst-case scenarios (no one’s going to buy, everything’s falling apart, my business is over), we end up spiraling into a dark pit that isn’t based on truth.
Those stories aren’t reality—they’re fear talking. And fear doesn’t lead to growth.
So take a breath, and let’s reset together.
Stand Tall, Show Up, Be Seen
What the industry needs right now isn’t more people retreating. It needs leaders.
Your clients are watching. They’re craving comfort, beauty, and certainty—all the things you naturally bring to the table as a designer. When you stay visible, show up boldly, and share your voice, you fill the space that others are leaving behind.
You become the steady presence they’re looking for.
And trust me, this doesn’t mean shouting or being flashy. It means being authentically present. It means letting your heart lead and reminding your audience that yes, you’re here, and yes, you can help.
That kind of calm confidence builds trust—and that trust becomes the foundation of your business during unpredictable times.
Consistency Is the Key
If you’ve heard me say it once, you’ve heard me say it a hundred times—consistency is everything. Don’t stop your marketing. Don’t go quiet. When you do, it’s incredibly difficult to restart from a standstill.
We’ve all had that moment when we look up from a big project only to realize our pipeline is empty and cash flow is crashing. Let’s not repeat that now.
Even if clients are tucking in a bit, they’re still at home—thinking about their home. Wanting it to feel better, look better, function better. And that means you’re still needed. Deeply needed.
Your Leadership Starts Now
Remember how designers flourished during the pandemic when homes became a top priority? The same energy is bubbling under the surface now. And just like then, those who pivoted quickly and stayed visible were the ones who thrived.
We’re not just going to survive this—we’re going to shine through it.
