Planning your new year is so exciting because you get to set up what’s going to happen, where you want to go, and how you’ll get there.
Now, I think you know that I’m all about having a really successful business and getting paid what you’re worth, but in order to do that, there are some priorities that we need to look at first, ask yourself:
- What makes your life work?
- What really makes you tick?
- What supports you in being creative, helping clients, changing the world, and creating a lot of money in your life and all those things?
Here’s my favorite way to explain time and priorities:
They represent a year and I’ll share how this all goes together. The rocks represent the priorities in life, the things you need to stay in place to be healthy, happy, fulfilled, and to do what you need to do. When all of those elements are in place, then work (aka sand) fill in around it. This is my trick for staying happy and successful – in life and business. You can do this on your own too and I’ll show you how!
Start by finding a clean jar with a lid, large river rocks, your calendar, and sand.
Then, you’ll take the rocks and mark them with YOUR priorities:
Next, get out your calendar and mark out time for YOUR priorities! Maybe weekly workout sessions, date nights every couple of weeks, a 3-week vacation sometime in 2019, and so on. Once you’ve marked your calendar, it’s time to put these rocks in the jar and then add the sand, aka work.
Work will fill any space you give it. The more space left wide open in your life/calendar, the more it fills and the more it will take up of your year. It will bury everything in your life… if you let it. Working harder, longer, and staying up late at night trying to get work done is not the path to success. No, this is not a success at all and it’s just not worth it.
The true way to success is with the paradigm shift of realizing and prioritizing the things in life that are important to you and that the work can be done in the amount of time you give it.
