Question:
I am not feeling very comfortable with setting many goals for myself. How can I set goals for 2013 when I didn’t even get close to getting what I wanted last year? Goals don’t work for me, and when I don’t reach the goal I set, I feel really crummy.
It seems better and safer to not to choose any goals, then whatever happens, I won’t disappoint myself or anyone else.
Answer:
That is true, you won’t cause any more disappointment, but you won’t have cause to celebrate either.
If you choose to just drift along with whatever happens you become the victim of circumstance. But consider that when you choose the path you want to follow, you have a much better chance of finding what you want.
Not quite reaching the goal you set for yourself is not a tragedy, in fact goals often need to be revised mid-year in order to be realistic. The tragedy happens when you never let go of the fear and discover your true brilliance and potential.
