Virtual Event

The reality is…

You are a talented designer, you know how to create a fabulous concept and remodeling plan, select bespoke finishes and polish it off with beautiful furnishings.

What you don’t know…

What you don’t

Is how to position yourself to be highly profitable doing what you love.

That looks like a substantial design fee that is based on the true budget of the project.

That means being able to provide and sell as much of the construction materials as you want.

That feels like being paid for all the construction support time you need to complete the job.

That means having a strong, confident mindset backed up with a clear, easy to explain system that creates a win-win outcome that results in…

a well-designed and implemented remodeling job for your client and a big well-earned payday for you.

There are literally TENS OF THOUSANDS of remodeling projects going on today.

People are more focused on their homes now than ever before. And there are hundreds of thousands of dollars changing hands in these projects…

I believe that more of that income should land on the side of the designer.

Don’t you agree?

I am here to show you how…. There is more to a good remodeling job than just designing a great space…

Successful and profitable outcomes start when you step into a remodeling project as the trusted consultant, helping the client to make good decisions based on real numbers and honest design options.

The result is that you will OWN this remodel job. Think about what that can mean for your bottom line….

Unfortunately that is often not what is happening today.

  • You undercharge and overdeliver your design services because you believe that’s the best way to land the job and to get more business from that client. (Turns out not to be true.)
  • You decide that being fee based would be better so you use the G.C.’s construction bid to calculate your fee. Now that you are into the job, you discover that the real budget, with all the finishes and design tricks the client wants is actually double. (Which means you left a lot of money on the table.)
  • Your contractor tells your client that any construction products they want will be sold to them at contractor’s cost (not exactly true, but now for sure you won’t be selling anything in this job.)
  • You feel like a puppet on a string, you are constantly interrupted to answer construction questions and put out fires, resulting in using up your unpaid-for-time and not getting done what you planned. (And doing paperwork till 10:00pm!)
  • Your clients have unrealistic expectations about what goes into a design job, thanks to HGTV. (They think they can completely remodel an entire house for only $60k and finish in 6 weeks…)
  • Your clients want their newly remodeled space to be furnished and magazine-photo ready! But you never get to do this because the furnishings budget gets swallowed by construction cost overruns.

This is a lose-lose situation.

There’s a better way

I am going to show you how to use my proven system to serve your clients better, create big profits for yourself and set business-like boundaries around your time and availability.

The Real Deal

Make Big Money on Remodels

When you position yourself properly with the client and use my Exploratory Agreement system to develop your remodel job concept, finish levels and budget…

that same job will produce 2X, 3X, even 10X more money in your pocket.

At the REAL DEAL I am going to show you how to:

am going to show

you how to:

At the REAL DEAL I am going to

show you how to:

  • Shift your mindset. Position yourself as the trusted consultant who will help the client successfully navigate the unknown in a remodeling project. No sleazy selling allowed here.
  • Shift your system. Flip the design process upside down and offer to design for your client just enough to get real construction and finish numbers so that they understand costs and can make informed decisions about how to spend their money. Now you have a REAL scope of work and budget.
  • Shift your fees. You win by getting to base your design fee on a REAL REMODELING BUDGET, ensuring that you are well paid for doing ALL the work it takes to complete a beautiful camera-ready design.

This design fee amount is WAY MORE than you think…

This design fee

amount is WAY

 MORE than you

This design fee amount is WAY

MORE than you think…

  • Shift your job profits. Create a much bigger payday for you by purchasing the finish materials and product needed for the remodeling job and let the contractor complete the labor portion.
  • Shift your time. Stop the RESCUING! No more staying up late to do paperwork because you are running on emergency hours, dashing out to help every time the contractor has a question. Good boundaries and scheduled visits take care of this nicely.
  • Shift your offer. Always include your interior design and furnishings in every project, because you have included it in the budgeting process. Clients actually do want it all.
  • Shift your efficiency. Get in control of your time by telling your client how many design meetings you will provide and prior to the meeting, what decisions will need to be made at which meeting.

The best part of using my Exploratory Agreement system to sign up remodeling clients?

You OWN the job; you are the logical “lead” on the project.

You have an agreed upon budget, you have a real scope of work.

You choose how much of the finishes and fixtures you want to sell, how involved with construction you want to be and let the contractor handle all the labor.

And you can learn how to do this, with my step-by-step, proven recipe when you join me for:

The Real Deal

A 3-Day Virtual Event where you’ll learn the Exploratory Agreement strategy that allows you to position yourself as the Trusted Consultant, create a win-win offer that your client will jump to accept, and create way more profit for your business.

Meet Your Host

Hi, I’m Terri

I had been a successful designer for many years when the economy crashed into my world in 2010. My design studio with 10 employees was happily producing Model Homes for most of the national home builders in Southern Arizona. In just one month all my subdivisions shut down and there were ZERO contracts to go after, home building just stopped.

I had to pivot and do it quickly!

I decided that remodeling would be the way to go because if people can’t sell their houses, they would still want to change things. I already had an AZ contracting license and remodeling would potentially give me the big dollar contracts I needed to keep my studio going.

Focusing on marketing my remodeling abilities brought me potential clients and I managed to step into a new income stream. (Gratitude)

What I discovered was that remodeling was hugely creative and fun when I took the time and care to develop a true budget and scope of work

before writing the Letter of Agreement.
What I also discovered was that I actually

didn’t need the contracting license…
I discovered that my studio could be highly profitable by selling all the finishes, materials and product
and leave the labor side to the contractors.

You can do this too!
Until now, this Exploratory Agreement system has only been available to my IDBA Growth, Structure and Masters Program students…

I believe this knowledge is so valuable and empowering it needs to be shared with all designers in our industry.
The wisdom I learned from my days of wearing a hard hat and steel-toed boots is exactly what I’m sharing with you at The Real Deal so you can bypass the 10 years of struggle and start OWNING remodel jobs now.

Create your “win-win” offer, OWN that remodeling job
and Get Paid What You Are Worth

Your Real Deal Agenda:

Your Real Deal

Day One – Vision

The way to step into something new and better is to be open to change. You’ll uncover the new systems you want to put into your business and the steps you’ll need to take to get there.

During the Day One sessions, you’ll learn:
  • Understand why the value that you bring to a job is far greater than the sum of the hours that you work and how you can be paid that way.
  • Discover the real reasons why you often end up with the “short end of the stick” in pricing remodel jobs and what to do about it.
  • Understand why and where you “get in your own way.” This affects your job budgets, getting bigger, better jobs and landing more up-scale clients.
  • How to step into a higher level of yourself, so you can take on larger remodel jobs with confidence. I want you to have all of the job, not just a tiny piece of it.
  • Understand what an Exploratory Offer for a remodeling job is and why your client will be thrilled that you are doing this for them (and the many, many ways you will benefit.)
  • Eliminate costly re-do and re-design time surprises by always having client budget agreement on a remodel before committing to the job and starting to design.
  • Why it’s so important to stop playing small, start taking up more space, increase your influence in a job and gain more respect from contractors and clients.
  • Understand how using the Universal Laws can help you to manifest what you really want in your life and your business.

Day Two - Detach

The path to being in control of a remodel job includes detaching yourself from the old limiting beliefs and rules that are holding you back. You are far more capable and deserve more than you think.

During the Day Two sessions, you’ll learn:
  • Understand your wealth consciousness and how to keep your old money stories out of your client’s jobs. Stop believing your clients can’t afford it… it is not true.
  • How to clearly and confidently ask for what you want, including big dollar remodel jobs and the higher fees that go with them.
  • Base your design fee on a REAL agreed upon budget that includes all the high-end finishes and fixtures your client wants.
  • Discover how your mindset creates your reality, you can… OWN this remodeling job; choose the product and finishes you want to sell, let the contractors complete the labor portions.
  • Learn ways to easily put boundaries and limits into your projects that clients and contractors respect and that protect your precious time.
  • Why it’s important to limit your time around nay-sayers and negative feedback if you want to propel your business forward.
  • Discover ways to overcome fear and doubt when taking on new jobs so that you can step into your role as a designer-in-charge.

Day Three – Upgrade

It’s time to stop delaying your dreams and step into a new level of business. You have so much value to bring to a design job, and there’s no better time than now to take action on it.

During the Day Three sessions, you’ll learn:
  • How to create strong client relationships by taking the time to explore with them exactly what the improvements they want cost… and then they look to you as the natural leader of the project.
  • Learn to confidently present your proven remodeling design system with good boundaries in place that informs the client exactly how the design process and remodel will flow.
  • Make your job move faster by informing your clients when they will be meeting with you, what to expect and what decisions will need to be made that day.
  • Create a Letter of Agreement that helps manage the job for you, describing how many meetings, how many space plans, how many finish selection options, even how many on–site visits you will provide. (No more nights and weekends!)
  • Learn the strategy to put in place so you always get to complete the interior design/furnishings part of the remodeling job and never lose it to the construction over-runs.
  • Leave the door open for additional requests that are not part of the Scope of Work. You will curb scope creep and upsell additional new business.
  • Your clients will sense your confidence because you are presenting a proven system and process that they can understand and plan for.

“I showed up at your event last year a completely different person than who I am today. I had no confidence in myself or the product I was offering my clients. I didn’t feel worthy of receiving abundance in my life… let’s be honest I didn’t even know what that term meant.

I left feeling alive with hope and energy. I hadn’t had this feeling in a long time. I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude when I look back on where I was and where I am today. My business has grown exponentially. I have almost tripled my income and am so close to my goal that I set for myself last year!”
